Train accident in Ajmer

Near Ajmer station on Monday morning, at least four coaches of the Sabarmati-Agra superfast train derailed, according to officials. No casualties have been reported as of yet. The incident took place at approximately 1 am when the express train was en route to Agra.

On Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 4.55 pm, the Sabarmati-Agra Superfast Express departs from the Sabarmati Broad Gauge (BG) station. The train arrives at Agra Cantt the following morning at 7.15 am. The train is expected to arrive at Ajmer Junction at 00:40 am, halt there for 10 minutes, and then depart from the station at 00:50 am. Three states—Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan—are covered by the Sabarmati-Agra Superfast Express.

Shashi Kiran, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Northwestern Railway (NWR) Zone, disclosed that the incident occurred as the train was approaching Madar Station from Ajmer Station. No one knows what caused the train to derail. The engine of the train and four general coaches were derailed.

No casualties have been reported, and individuals with minor injuries were transported to nearby hospitals, according to the CPRO.

Train derailment impact

In addition, the NWR released a helpline number—0145-2429642—and set up a helpdesk at the Ajmer station. This number has been assigned to family members of train passengers. This incident has resulted in the cancellation of six trains and the rerouting of two others.
